I never quite understood why people looked down on these hairless cuties. Yes, they are wrinkled pillows, but that only makes them even more adorable. Also, being a pawrent of a sphynx cat is an undeniable opportunity to play dress-up in the most wholesome way possible. Let me explain. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the measures and care needed for these babies, as it turns out, skin protection should be on top of that list. Because they have no hair, their skin needs extra care, as they will perceive temperature changes easily. They can even get sunburned when exposed to the sun for too long, or dry skin due to a lack of moisturizer. So, if you ever decide to adopt one of these beauties, part of the daily routine is going to include SPF, tiny sweaters, and ear protection. You can tell from these pictures that they have no problem rocking different outfits. That said, before you start applying your fanciest cream on their skin, make sure you’ve got approval from the vet. Friendly reminder that we do add way too many chemical components to our beauty and health products, so maybe get a brand that’s special for animal care.

The first thing to do in order to learn how to better appreciate and love the sphynx cats of the world is getting to know them. For example, as it turns out, they are not actually hairless. They might look completely bald, but most of them have a very thin layer of fur; we can’t see it in detail. Also, they’ve been around for thousands and thousands of years, so I think it's more than fair for them to get their own special day.

These babies deserve all the love and appreciation we are willing to give to other cats, with their cute wrinkly noses and their floppy big ears. They might not be conventional, but they are truly special, no doubt. They also teach us that looks and superficial aspects are just the beginning. Just like us, these pretty creatures come in all shapes and sizes. No mold, no one-size-fits-all, and no usual pattern here. Uniqueness and diversity are their true superpower. We have a lot to learn from these cuties in that way, because that should be our own superpower as well.
